DISINFO: Poland has started Stalinist repressions against the 'Kremlin’s agents'

SUMMARY

Under the pretext of fighting Russian influence, Warsaw decided to present its own idea of “Stalinist repressions” – the implementation does not even require a “sacred cow”, such as the murder of Kirov, which was the formal explanation for the Great Terror. Recently, incredible stories emerged about a planned assassination of Zelensky and an attack on Leonid Volkov. Allegedly, a Belarusian recruited by Russia hired two Poles for an attack on Volkov in Lithuania. These stories lack evidence and look unserious. However, Poland wants to use these stories as a formal pretext to label all undesirable persons as “agents of the Kremlin”.

RESPONSE

This message is a part of the Kremlin’s widespread narrative about Russophobic Poland. Pro-Kremlin media regularly accuse Poland of Russophobia and implementing anti-Russian policies.

The claim that Poland has started a period of Stalinist repressions against undesirable persons labelled as agents of the Kremlin is presented without evidence.

In April 2024, Polish special services detained two persons connected to the recent attack on Russian opposition activist Leonid Volkov in Vilnius. In addition, a Polish citizen was arrested for his readiness to take part in an operation of the Russian special services aimed at the assassination of President Zelensky on Polish territory.
