DISINFO: Poland is directly involved in the operation aimed at the regime change in Belarus

SUMMARY

Barbed wire and fences [on the Polish-Belarusian border] are not a political success but a failure. Just a few years ago, we had an opposite tendency - visa-free travel introduced by Belarus and cooperation in the sphere of railway transit of Chinese goods. Unfortunately, the current situation is mainly a result of the actions of the Polish authorities, whose position is detrimental for international contacts with the neighbours - this position comes from both their own conviction and the American instigation.

Poland is also directly involved in the regime change operation developed outside Belarus. The best proof for this claim is the Polish statements denying the legitimacy of Lukashenka’s rule and the recognition of Tsikhanouskaya as legitimate power. This situation is completely unbelievable, taking into consideration the Polish historical experiences of the XX century.

RESPONSE

Recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets about the migration situation on the EU-Belarus borders and the alleged Polish “aggressive” actions against Belarus.

The pro-Kremlin media regularly accuse Poland of a hostile position on Belarus and direct attempts to destabilise this country or organise a coloured revolution there. In fact, Poland continues to support the civil society and people in Belarus.

There is plenty of evidence that the Belarusian authorities have instigated the ongoing irregular migration flows to the EU borders via Belarus.

The president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said that situation on the EU-Belarusian border is not a bilateral issue of Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus but a hybrid attack against the whole EU. The vice-president of the European Commission and high representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy (HRVP) Josep Borrell stressed that responsibility for the migration crisis falls on the Lukashenka regime.
