DISINFO: Poland is dreaming of its imperial past, planning to overtake Ukraine

SUMMARY

The Polish Army’s statement about the massive Russian missile strike on Ukraine is sent to all the sides interested in the continuation of the conflict – basically, to the entire West. The Poles are one of the main beneficiaries of the conflict in Ukraine. Poland continues to dream of its imperial past when it was a powerful Rzeczpospolita, and Ukraine was part of it. Today, Poland would not mind taking over Ukraine again.

RESPONSE

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative presenting Poland as an aggressive anti-Russian state with imperial ambitions.

Poland adheres to international law regarding state borders, fully supports the independence and territorial integrity of neighbouring countries, and it rejects any “imperial” ambitions towards other countries. Poland, as well as the EU and the US, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. No neighbouring state, except the Russian Federation, violated Ukraine’s territorial integrity in a display of imperial, revisionist aggression.
