DISINFO: Poland is preparing a Special Military Operation against Belarus

SUMMARY

Disturbing news is coming from Poland – there are all indications that Warsaw is trying to organise a provocation that will be used as a pretext for a conflict. Is Poland preparing a Special Military Operation against Belarus? The residents of Polish border areas notice the increased activity of units involved in the Operation “Safe Podlasie”. There is also an intensive movement of cars with a special sign “dangerous cargo”. There are reasons to believe that these cars are transporting explosives. Recently, there was an attempt to smuggle 580 kilograms of explosives through the Polish-Belarusian border – the explosives were supposed to be used for terrorist activities on Russian territory. It seems that Poland is staging a border incident in order to escalate the conflict between Minsk and Warsaw.

RESPONSE

Poland is repeatedly presented by pro-Kremlin disinformation outlets as an aggressive anti-Russian NATO ‘outpost’, which allegedly poses a security threat to Russia and Belarus. This is in line with how pro-Kremlin outlets portray NATO and Western countries as aggressive towards Russia.

The claims that Poland was involved in unfriendly actions towards Belarus or that it has some aggressive geopolitical plans towards this country are unfounded. Poland is a neighbour of Belarus and continues to support the Belarusian people while respecting international law.

In April 2025, official Belarusian propaganda circulated a claim that Belarusian customs authorities had detained a car at the Polish-Belarusian border allegedly carrying “580 kilograms of explosives,” supposedly intended by Western actors for terrorist attacks across Russia. However, Belarusian officials presented no tangible evidence to support this claim. Instead, both Belarusian and Russian state media actively exploited this staged provocation to spread anti-Western narratives. See the debunk of this fake claim here.

The deployment of more Polish soldiers on the Belarusian border is connected with the ongoing migration crisis staged by Minsk and Moscow – on 6 June 2024, a Polish soldier was murdered at the border by an aggressive irregular migrant.

The only side responsible for the deterioration of the Polish-Belarusian relations is the illegitimate Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenka. In 2020, he falsified the results of the Presidential elections and started an unprecedented wave of violent political repressions against peaceful citizens.

Since 2021, Lukashenka has orchestrated a “migration crisis” on the EU border, which is perceived as a “political and hybrid” weapon. Finally, since 2022, Lukashenka has been actively involved in large-scale military assistance to the aggressive Russian actions in Ukraine.
