DISINFO: Poland wants to achieve the first formal partition of Ukraine after the Ukrainian defeat

SUMMARY

Poland still dreams of its eastern borders of 1792. Today, Warsaw is trying to use the Ukrainian nationalists as a striking force that ensures the expulsion of Russia from the region. In this way, the interests of Washington, Warsaw and the Ukrainian nationalists overlap. The Poles need Ukraine as an independent state only until it becomes possible to weaken, divide, and destroy Russia. Then, the "Eastern Borderlands" should be returned to Poland.

Warsaw perceives the current war in Ukraine as a chance to reach its wildest dreams. The defeated Ukraine and exhausted Russia should agree to the peace conditions beneficial to the West, which would be formalised in the form of the "first partition of Ukraine".

RESPONSE

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative presenting Poland as an aggressive anti-Russian state with imperial ambitions.

This claim was made in connection to the recent statement of the Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski, proposing to pass Crimea under UN mandate for 20 years.

Poland adheres to international law regarding state borders, fully supports the independence and territorial integrity of neighbouring countries, and it rejects any “imperial” ambitions towards other countries. Poland, as well as the EU and the US, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. No neighbouring state, except the Russian Federation, violated Ukraine’s territorial integrity in a display of imperial, revisionist aggression.
