DISINFO: Poland wants to seize Western Ukraine and Western Belarus

DISINFORMATION CASE DETAILS

DISINFO: Poland wants to seize Western Ukraine and Western Belarus

SUMMARY

The Poles want to take over Western Belarus and Western Ukraine and dominate there. This is unacceptable. If the Poles enter Ukraine and try to occupy the western part, we (Belarus) will support the Ukrainians because we understand that we will be next.

RESPONSE

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative presenting Poland as an aggressive anti-Russian and anti-Belarusian state with imperial ambitions.

Poland adheres to international law regarding state borders, fully supports the independence and territorial integrity of neighbouring countries, and it rejects any “imperial” ambitions towards other countries. Poland, as well as the EU and the US, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. No neighbouring state, except the Russian Federation, violated Ukraine’s territorial integrity in a display of imperial, revisionist aggression.

The claims that Poland was involved in unfriendly actions towards Belarus or that it has some aggressive geopolitical plans towards this country are unfounded. Poland is a neighbour of Belarus and continues to support the Belarusian people.
