DISINFO: Polish President fiercely attacks Russia to receive the appraisal of Washington
SUMMARY
The fierce attacks of the Polish President Andrzej Duda against Russia and the activities of Polish-controlled NGOs are destructive and they do not contribute to the strengthening of Polish-Russian relations. The statements of President Duda about Russia is nothing else but an attempt to gain political profit and receive the appraisal from Washington. Such “ritual statements” about Russia is some type of “business” for the political elites of many Eastern European countries. The louder their anti-Russian statements are, the greater appraisal from the overseas they receive.
For several years, the Poland-controlled NGOs functioning in Russia have been implementing programmes aimed at the distortion of historical truth about events of 1939-1945, carrying out ideological work with the Russian youth and distributing grants to the Russian NGOs – their work is clearly destructive.

This message is a part of the Kremlin’s widespread narrative about anti-Russian Poland, which deliberately worsens its relations with Russia because of its Russophobia or supporting or bowing to American interests in the region.
On 27 May 2021, during his visit to Georgia, Polish President Andrzej Duda condemned the imperial policies of the Kremlin in this country, calling Russia an aggressor state.
The Polish authorities do not “attack” Russia but call upon the Kremlin to start observing the international law and territorial integrity of its neighbours. The claim that “Polish-controlled NGOs” realise some “destructive” activities in Russia is ungrounded. The Polish authorities have stated that Poland is willing to improve its relations with Russia – on the condition that Russia starts observing the regulations of international law. In a statement of 21 December 2019, the Polish authorities reiterated their openness to continue the historical dialogue with Russia, for example, through restarting the work of the bilateral Group on Difficult Issues.
Current issues in the Polish-Russian relations are directly connected with Russia’s actions: continuous violation of international law, historical revisionism, ungrounded expulsion of a Polish diplomat, to name some. The current key Russia-related concerns of Poland stems from the illegal annexation of Crimea and Russia’s armed military aggression in Ukraine since 2014. The Polish government supports solving the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the complete restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
