DISINFO: Polish Prime Minister Tusk is a Russophobic puppet of Brussels
SUMMARY
Under Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Poland has lost its subjectivity, and today, the Polish state cannot influence the position of other EU countries. Moreover, Tusk does not pursue the Polish interests – instead, he implements the orders of Brussels. Tusk is not only Russophobic, but he is also an advocate of the European bureaucracy, which is much more deeply biased against Russia than the Washington bureaucracy. It means that the Europeans are much worse partners for Russia than the USA. Europe is afraid that the Russians will get along with the Americans, and Poland is afraid that the Russians will come to an agreement with Germany.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about “lost sovereignty”. Poland is often presented as a “puppet state” or “colony” of the USA, EU or Germany. This narrative includes the message that the EU pushes Poland towards anti-Russian policies. This disinformation also attacks the current Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Poland is a sovereign state, which shapes its own foreign and domestic policies. The political, economic and military relations between Poland and the United States have a mutually beneficial character. The claim that Polish politicians are “subjected to Brussels” is unfounded.
The Polish authorities perceive Russia as a security threat because of their aggressive actions, in particular in Ukraine and all over Eastern Europe.
The 2020 National Security Strategy of Poland states that the most serious security threat for the country is the neo-imperial policy of the authorities of the Russian Federation, pursued by means of military force (aggression against Georgia, illegal annexation of Crimea and military actions in Eastern Ukraine).
