DISINFO: Political scandal in Austria is a part of Western Russophobic campaign

SUMMARY

The story with a leaked video in Austria is very similar to alleged Russian interference into American elections, it is the same scenario. Political parties in America and Europe use Russophobia to defeat their political enemies. It is telling that this particular campaign against Russia happens right after the attempts to prove Russian trace in the victory of Donald Trump suffered a complete fiasco.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Russophobia and Russian interference in 2016 US elections. Special counsel Robert Mueller’s report affirms that “the investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities”. Nevertheless it states that interference activities took place, as already concluded earlier by US intelligence community and by Mueller’s own inquiry: “the investigation established that the Russian government perceived it would benefit from a Trump presidency and worked to secure that outcome, and that the Campaign expected it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts”. German media has not disclosed the origins of the video, implicating former vice-chancellor of Austria Heinz-Christian Strache. There is no evidence of in the involvement of European political parties in the making of the video.
