This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets, accusing the European Union of warmongering and portraying the support for Ukraine as an act of escalation rather than a response to Russia’s large-scale invasion.
This claim was made in the context of the European Political Community meeting, held in Copenhagen on 2 October 2025. The EU Leaders discussed how to strengthen Ukraine, the security situation in Europe, and a determined European response to current security challenges.
The claim that the EU or EPC is 'pushing Europe toward war' reflects a distorted pro-Kremlin narrative, which routinely misrepresents diplomatic or security cooperation among European states as aggression. In reality, these initiatives aim to avoid war through collective deterrence and diplomacy.
Preserving peace has always been a core task of the European Union. As Russia intensifies its attacks on Ukraine, the EU is ready to continue to support Ukraine and its people, including with military and financial support. So far, the EU and its member states have provided €177.5 billion in support. The EU's actions are based on a strong belief that Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity is non-negotiable.
