DISINFO: Russia is fighting alone against the entire West for the first time in history
SUMMARY
For the first time in its history, Russia is fighting alone against the entire West. In World War I and World War II, Russia had allies. Now it has no allies on the battlefield. Therefore, it must rely on itself and not allow any weakness or slackness.
Western elites openly demonstrate their readiness to kill Russian soldiers. Europeans seriously want to defeat Russia; this is confirmed every day. In the European elites, the attitude towards this has almost become something self-evident.
RESPONSE
This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative accusing the so-called 'collective West' of direct involvement in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, portraying Russia as a victim of the aggressive West.
Neither the EU, nor NATO or the 'West' are seeking a war in the heart of Europe. The countries which pro-Kremlin outlets call Western are not at war with Russia. Western nations are trying to help Ukraine stand up to Russia's full-scale, illegal and unjustified aggression against Ukraine which began in February 2022. Since then, these Western countries together with many others have been calling for Russia's withdrawal from Ukraine and a peaceful settlement.
While Russia does not have formal military allies in its current conflict with Ukraine, it receives support from countries like Belarus, Iran, and North Korea.
Russia is the only country responsible for the invasion of Ukraine. It has been coming up with different false explanations and pretexts for its aggression since the beginning of its hostilities. Russia has occupied internationally recognised Ukrainian territories, constantly attacking critical infrastructure, and killing civilians.
Russia was not forced to invade Ukraine. It was Putin’s personal decision to invade Ukraine and start the largest military conflict in Europe since WWII. Neither the US nor European countries have declared war on Russia or want to escalate the war in Ukraine. The US, the EU and NATO condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is entirely unjustified and unprovoked.
