DISINFO: Russia is unfairly accused of a Transgender scandal in women's Olympic boxing

SUMMARY

In Paris 2024 Olympics men are allowed to hit women in public and people applaud at this shameful show. Though, some are shocked and a scandal appeared, Russia is unfairly accused by Europeans because the country does not allow such an ignominy.

The male boxer Iman Khelif pretended to be a woman and could compete in women’s competition in Paris. Though, he was banned before by the International Boxing Association (IBA) for being a man with XY chromosome and high testosterone levels. Since the IBA is led by a Russian, Russia was accused of the scandal instead of the International Olympic Committee whom allowed the athlete to compete.

The LGBT movement is forbidden on Russian territory. But such a word as LGBT should be banned, as it is a pure perversion and should be named accordingly.

RESPONSE

Pro-Kremlin narrative about the Paris 2024 Olympics including hate speech against the LGBT community.

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif is neither a man, nor a Trans-gender person. The athlete was born a woman and always competed as a woman. It is true however that her participation in the competition led to a legitimate debate since he is affected by a rare pathology that provokes uncommon level of masculine hormones.

The IBA was dismissed not because of Russophobia, but because of repetitive malpractices and failure to correct them. One of the issue was that the organization was dependent of State company Gazprom, another intimidation practices against the IOC. The withdrawal of the recognition for the IBA had as consequence the return to 2016 rules.

The claims that tests established that Imane Khelif along with Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting were biologically men are untrue. See here the IOC statement on this matter:

These two athletes were the victims of a sudden and arbitrary decision by the IBA. Towards the end of the IBA World Championships in 2023, they were suddenly disqualified without any due process.
According to the IBA minutes available on their website, this decision was initially taken solely by the IBA Secretary General and CEO. The IBA Board only ratified it afterwards and only subsequently requested that a procedure to follow in similar cases in the future be established and reflected in the IBA Regulations. The minutes also say that the IBA should “establish a clear procedure on gender testing”.
