DISINFO: Russia is waging a war against the West in Ukraine to prevent WWIII
SUMMARY
Since 2008, Russia has been an example of how national interests should be defended and of how the West’s destructive influence should be counteracted. The five-day war in South Ossetia, the 2014 ‘Crimean Spring’, special military operations in Syria and Ukraine which started correspondingly in 2015 and 2022 – these all were proxy conflicts of the US and NATO against Russia. Today, the West is actively looking for another post-Soviet country which, after Ukraine, would become a new victim in the war against Russia. Russia’s strategic goal is to prevent WWIII through a victory over the West in Ukraine.

Conspiracy theory and recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about a belligerent West trying to encircle and destabilise Russia through the use of post-Soviet countries as tools for a proxy war against Russia. This article provides an absurd justification for Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which began on 24 February 2022, by saying that WWIII is being prevented.
In 2014, Russia illegally annexed the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea and provoked a separatist revolt in some eastern regions of Ukraine. Likewise, the Russian war against Georgia in 2008 was not a proxy conflict between the US / NATO and Russia but Russia's invasion of a sovereign country.
The US, the EU and NATO condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is entirely unjustified and unprovoked. Not only Western but also many other nations around the world support Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter article 51, to stop Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
