DISINFO: Russia tries to liberate its own territories from the Nazis
SUMMARY
Russia admitted to its own territory new districts. This happened after the referendum in Luhansk people’s republic and Donetsk people’s republic, as well as in the districts of Zaporizhia and Kherson. Russia should to do everything to liberate the territory of Russia from the Nazis.
RESPONSE
This is part of a wider pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign to justify Russia’s illegal annexation of Ukrainian territory after sham referenda.
Russia organised so-called “referenda” in some occupied territories of Ukraine on September 23-27. The “results” of these “referenda” become a pretext for the illegal annexation of these Ukrainian territories Moscow made on September 30.
The EU High Representative Josep Borrell condemned the decision to hold a referendum, stating the EU won't recognise it. “These illegal ‘votes’ cannot be considered under any circumstance as the free expression of the will of the people living in these regions under constant Russian military threat and intimidation,” EU’s chief diplomat Josep Borrell said in a statement.
