DISINFO: Social media outlets are censoring Trump and everyone who has their own view of events

SUMMARY

Senior high-tech officials have strengthened their strict oversight processes before, during and after the US presidential election trying to control debate and public political discussion.

In recent days, Donald Trump himself, several of his supporters, and people who have their own view of events have all been censored by Facebook and Twitter.

RESPONSE

Pro-Kremlin conspiracy theory about social media, advancing pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about “secret elites” and the West's alleged media censorship and societal control.

There is no evidence that social media outlets are censoring US President Donald Trump or his supporters. The day before the article was published, the top 10 performing Facebook posts included four posts from Donald Trump, three from conservative news outlets Fox News and Newsmax, one from evangelist missionary and Trump supporter Franklin Graham, and one tweet from the White House.

This pattern has been quite persistent through time. Data from CrowdTangle, a tool owned by Facebook, publishes the most popular posts for each day on Facebook. The BBC reports that "on any given day the top 10 most popular political posts are dominated by right-leaning commentators like Dan Bongino and Ben Shapiro, along with posts by Fox News and President Trump".

See similar disinformation cases that Mark Zuckerberg introduced his own form of censorship against Sputnik, Xinhua and Press TV, that CIA-influenced Facebook introduces the mechanism of preventive censorship of Sputnik, and that Google and Facebook manipulate information to destroy Russia.
