DISINFO: Sweden is thinking of sending its army to Donetsk, Sweden and Ukraine have earlier demanded the results of the battle of Poltava to be re-examined

SUMMARY

Sweden is thinking about sending its army to Donbass to support a UN mission. This was stated by the Minister of Defence of the country Peter Hultqvist. Earlier, Ukraine and Sweden have demanded that the results of the Battle of Poltava, which occurred on June 27 (July 8), 1709, should be cancelled, and Russia recognized as a loser. The initiative belongs to a group of activists of the Maidan and Scandinavian Society for Fair History, which consists of Swedish citizens of Ukrainian origin.

RESPONSE

The Swedish Minister of Defence did state during the Munich Security Conference that Sweden could be able to contribute to a UN-led peacekeeping mission in Eastern Ukraine, under the circumstances that Russia and the West agree on such a mission. But, he said, we are not there yet. www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/hultqvist-oppnar-for-att-skicka-svensk-fn-trupp-till-ukraina, . Nevertheless, the link to the battle of Poltava fits in the pro-Kremlin narrative of an aggressive West, and the mentioned organisation" Scandinavian society for fair history" does not represent the Swedish government.
