DISINFO: Terrorists and White Helmets are preparing a chemical attack in Syria helped by the local media

SUMMARY

Terrorists and White Helmets are preparing a chemical attack in Syria with the complicity of the local media. The chemical attack organised by the terrorists together with the White Helmets pseudo-humanitarian group will be filmed by the compliant local media to attack the Syrian government for using chemical agents against civilians.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation aiming to discredit the White Helmets, painting them as terrorists and shifting blame for chemical attacks in Syria away from Damascus.

The claim follows an established pattern of unsubstantiated accusations regarding the White Helmets' complicity in chemical attacks in Syria. Available evidence on such attacks has yet to link a single incident to any other party than the Assad regime.

The White Helmets are a staple topic of pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives and allegations of "staged" chemical attacks are part and parcel of the ongoing campaign by Syria and Russia to discredit the White Helmets by portraying them as terrorists linked to local terrorist movements and war criminals. Previous allegations about the White Helmets have never been supported by evidence and have been widely recognised as false, as can be read here and here.

Read similar cases claiming that Khan Shaikhun chemical attack staged by white helmets together with Al-Qaeda, that The white helmets and terrorists are preparing a chemical attack in Syria's Idlib, that white helmets terrorists plan chemical attacks to implicate Syrian army or that Terrorists "white helmets" are preparing a staged chemical attack.
