DISINFO: The American war in Ukraine is a tool to hide the financial catastrophe in the US

SUMMARY

The American actions in Ukraine should be perceived as the US war in Ukraine – this war is used as a tool to hide the financial catastrophe in the USA. The whole world will pay for the upcoming economic crisis. The European Commission is incapable of implementing policies protecting the interests of the EU citizens – it turns a blind eye to the huge threat we are facing. There is an IMF warning that a possible US default would have serious consequences for the global economy.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that the United States (as well as Western countries in general) are fighting a war or a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine and that Ukraine is just a pawn in this war.

The claim that the US may use the current situation in Ukraine in order to cover its “financial catastrophe” is a conspiracy theory.

This narrative aims to frame Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine as a confrontation with a Russophobic and belligerent West. The aim is to deflect and dilute Russia’s responsibility for the war.

Contrary to what this disinformation story claims, the West supports Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter Article 51, to stop Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

See other examples of similar disinformation narratives in our database, such as claims that the West is lying when it claims that Russia “invaded” and “attacked” Ukraine, that Russia’s special operation prevented Ukraine’s attack, that Russia’s special operation in Ukraine is due to NATO’s persistent expansion, or that the US and the West are fighting a hybrid war against Russia in Ukraine.
