DISINFO: The assassination attempt on Putin was planned with the Anglo-Saxon masters of Ukraine
SUMMARY
There is no doubt that the assassination attempt on Russian President Vladimir Putin, mentioned by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, was planned and financed with the direct participation of the Anglo-Saxon masters of the Kyiv regime.
RESPONSE
Unfounded claim, with no evidence provided. The claim also fits well in the recurrent disinformation narrative about the West’s alleged support for terrorism and manifests Russia as the only power actually “fighting terrorism” in the world. This claim also advances the narrative of Ukraine as being a Western puppet, as well as about the "Anglo-Saxons."
In an interview with NV, Kyrylo Budanov, the chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence, аnswering the question about whether there were any assassination attempts on Putin, he noted: "They were, but, as you can see, they have also been unsuccessful so far." At the same time, Budanov did not state that it was Ukraine that tried to organise assassination attempts on Putin.
This is not the first time that Budanov has voiced information about attempts by some forces to kill Putin. For example, in 2022, he said to Ukrainskaya Pravda, "There was even an attempt on him by representatives of the Caucasus not so long ago." At that time, Budanov’s statements did not have such resonance in Russia.
There is no framework under international legislation in which US, or any other country’s, assistance to Ukraine can be regarded as “sponsoring terrorism”. Ukraine has been illegally attacked by Russia and has the right to self-defence under UN charter and within international law.
More than 50 countries throughout the world support Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s effective self-defence, under the UN Charter Article 51, to stop Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. It has the right to liberate and regain full control of all occupied territories within its internationally recognised borders. Ukraine is also allowed legally to strike military targets within Russia and take the fighting onto Russian soil, if necessary.
The term “Anglo-Saxons” in such cases normally stands for the US and UK and often means “evil”, “belligerent” and “morally corrupt” Westerners, as explained in our earlier analysis. As a negative catch-all term, it is a useful building block for pro-Kremlin conspiracy theories.
See other examples of similar disinformation narratives: Biden is sponsoring terrorism in Ukraine; The US supports terrorism in Ukraine; Western arms support to Ukraine failing, backing international terrorists; Ukraine is a terrorist state and the West is to blame for guiding Kyiv; Anglo-Saxons involved in Iran leader’s death and other recent attempts; Anglo-Saxons organiсed the Crocus attacks to ruin Russia’s relations with Central Asian countries.
