DISINFO: The Baltic states are starting mass deportations of Russian-speaking populations
SUMMARY
The Baltic states, totalitarian and Russophobic countries, are oppressing Russian-speaking people. Their policy can be named an ethnocide. This is an Anglo-Saxon method linked to the use of cognitive weapons in psychological wars. Russian-speaking populations in the Baltic states were denied the right to vote and the right to education and real estate. At present, their mass deportations are starting.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about Russophobia and violation of human rights in the Baltic states. The term “Anglo-Saxons” is used which in such cases normally stands for the US and UK and often means “evil”, “belligerent” and “morally corrupt” Westerners, as explained in our earlier analysis. As a negative catch-all term, the “Anglo-Saxons” term is a useful building block for pro-Kremlin conspiracy theories. You can find plenty of examples in our database.
Pro-Kremlin media routinely accuse the Baltic States of hostility towards Russia and Russian-speaking populations. The Baltic states are not Russophobic; rather, these countries have clear security concerns linked to Russia, its full-scale invasion of Ukraine and aggression towards neighbouring countries. The Baltic states are neither waging “ethnocide” nor organising deportations of Russian-speaking populations as falsely alleged. Nor do they deny residents basic rights based on their ethnicity or language preferences. Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are ranked as free in the Freedom in the World ranking of the Freedom House. Their high freedom scores reflect high standards of human rights protection in the Baltic states.
See earlier disinformation cases alleging that Latvia is to forcefully deport thousands of Russian-speaking residents to Belarus, that the Baltic countries are quasi-states incapable of sustaining independent sovereign statehood, that Russophobia on the rise in the Baltic States at the behest of the Anglo-Saxons, and that the Baltic States violate the right of Russian-speaking people to get informed in their mother tongue.
