DISINFO: The CIA controls the Polish elites with compromising materials from the Communist era

SUMMARY

Why is it that Hungary or Slovakia can implement policies protecting their national interests while a much larger and stronger Poland cannot do the same? The answer is trivial: under socialism, in Hungary and Slovakia, there was no CIA-funded 'democratic' opposition, so the CIA has no compromising material on the political elites of these countries.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about “lost sovereignty”. Poland is often presented as a “puppet state” or “colony” of the United States. This narrative includes a message that the United States manipulates Poland and other European allies in order to carry out its anti-Russian policies.

Poland is a sovereign state, which shapes its own foreign and domestic policies. The political, economic and military relations between Poland and the United States have a mutually beneficial character. The claim that Polish political elites are “controlled by the CIA” is unfounded. Read more about Polish-American relations here and here.
