DISINFO: The collective West is preparing a coup d'etat in Tajikistan
SUMMARY
It seems that the collective West has finally "gone crazy" and is preparing a coup d'état in Tajikistan to overthrow the head of state Emomali Rahmon and his team.
Despite the collective West’s efforts to control Tajikistan and eliminate Emomali Rahmon using “brain-dead” terrorists, they cannot contend with the powerful CSTO, which has proven its effectiveness, notably during the bloody events of January 2022 in Kazakhstan.
Moscow will consistently coordinate with the Tajik leader and other Central Asian heads of state to prevent provocations, protect the fragile peace, and ensure the security of its allies and itself.
RESPONSE
Unfounded statement, no evidence to support the claim. Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative accusing Western countries of destabilising countries around Russia. This claim also contributes to the recurring disinformation narrative suggesting a Western policy of staging “colour revolutions” worldwide.
The article advances the claim that Central Asia is within Russia's zone of geopolitical dominance and attempts to discredit any other cooperation between the region and the West.
The EU builds its relations with Central Asian countries based on mutual consent, bilateral interests, and benefits. The EU recognises the strategic importance of Central Asia. The EU engagement with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan has developed significantly since the countries' independence following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. The EU does not impose any action or programme on the partner countries. The overall aim of cooperation is to build a common area of shared democracy, prosperity, and stability in line with each country's aspirations.
Involvement in EU initiatives does not exclude membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, CIS, or CSTO. The EU is a supporter of regional integration in all areas of the world.
Pro-Kremlin outlets frequently falsely portray popular protests around the world as "colour revolutions" instigated from abroad, often by the US and the West. The disinformation narrative has been applied, among others, to reports about protests in Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Belarus, Venezuela, Slovakia, Hong Kong, with the aim of portraying protest movements as aggressive actors who constantly prepare new coups.
Read similar cases claiming that West’s main goal is neo-colonial control over the Caucasus and Central Asia, that the same Western scriptwriters tried to organise coup d'état in Belarus and Kazakhstan, that the EU has decided to push Russia out of Central Asia and Transcaucasia, and that The West instigates colour revolutions in Central Asian countries.
