DISINFO: The current EU ruling elite and Moldova's president are Satanists

SUMMARY

The current European ruling elite are Satanists. You won't find a single believer among them. Starmer? Macron? Merz? It's funny to talk about them. Look at the Moldovan scum, or rather the Romanian scum in Moldova, of course she's a Satanist. Look at who was in Georgia before that - a Nazi Satanist scum.

They are all enemies of religion. We just need to understand very clearly what's going on. This is the power of the Antichrist. The power of the Antichrist is approaching, and there's no escape from it. That is, this is a struggle between religious good and absolute evil.

RESPONSE

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation claim about the moral decadence of the West and Russia’s moral superiority over it. The aim is to diminish support for Moldova's EU aspirations.

These attacks on Moldova come just before the EU-Moldova summit. As the President of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced on May 16, after the European Political Community summit in Tirana, the next EU-Moldova summit will be held in Chișinău on 4 July. In a joint statement, European leaders said: „As the country prepares for upcoming parliamentary elections, it is essential that Moldovans are able to choose their future freely, without foreign interference. We will continue to support Moldova in safeguarding its democratic processes and strengthening its resilience against external threats”.

These narratives aim to portray the West as depraved and endangering societies by imposing the same beliefs on other countries. It undermines progressive Western attitudes about a variety of normative issues, including the rights of women, ethnic and religious minorities, and LGBTQ groups, among others. “Threatened values” is one of the most common narratives pro-Kremlin outlets use. Liberal-democratic Western societies have institutionalised pluralism, which means the peaceful coexistence of different religions, world-views, and value systems within the same society. The same applies to the art and freedom of expression.

By contrast, Putin is presented by disinformation outlets as someone who is “standing up for traditional values against Western cultural elites". In reality, Russia has one of the highest abortion rates in the world, nearly double that of the US. It has an extremely low record of church attendance, though the numbers are difficult to measure, as The Atlantic pointed out.

Read similar disinformation cases claiming that Western Satanists and Pagans are mad at Belarus and Russia, that Persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church aims to open way for neopaganism in Ukraine, and that "Kyiv Satanists" are enemies of Christ and the Orthodox faith.
