DISINFO: The EU is on the verge of hunger and political chaos
SUMMARY
The EU is facing the extent of disorganisation and power vacuum which has never happened in USSR’s or Russia’s history. Even during the hardest WWII episode in the USSR’s history when Nazi troops were nearing Moscow, the country was better managed than the present-day EU. France had the worst cereal harvest in over 40 years. The EU is paralysed ahead of chaos stemming from bad harvest and degradation of ruling elites. Irresponsibility bordering on criminal negligence has become the principal quality of the EU political establishment.
RESPONSE
This article draws far-fetched comparisons between the EU's development and the USSR's, and fits into a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the EU's alleged imminent collapse. Wrong analogies and highly questionable comparisons of the EU/West and USSR or Russia are a regular tactic used in pro-Kremlin outlets. They have previously claimed that the EU and particularly France are stagnating just like the USSR did, that the EU has turned into the Soviet Union and launched a Ministry of Truth like in 1984, and that Russia provides greater guarantees of freedom of expression than western countries.
The EU institutions - the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Central Bank, the European External Action Service and others - are functioning as set in the EU's treaties. The leaders and governmental representatives of the EU member states have regular meetings to discuss different issues on a common agenda.
