DISINFO: The EU is turning into a new Reich by creating a secret service
SUMMARY
The European Union is finally stepping onto the path of something like the Wehrmacht, or rather, a new Reich. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has declared the need to create an EU secret service. This service will be gathering information and assess security risks in order to draw conclusions. It will rely on the activities of EU representations in various countries. Will they be spying? Will it be something like both the Abwehr and the Gestapo at the same time? A global political intelligence service? Therefore, the EU mission must be expelled from Russia.
RESPONSE
On 20 October 2024, President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the creation of a European intelligence service. The aim of this service is to provide the EU with better information about threats to its security, including terrorism, cyber-attacks, and hybrid warfare. The service will be created by transforming the existing EU Intelligence and Situation Centre (INTCEN), established in 2012, into a full-fledged intelligence service.
The new service will be under the control of the European Parliament and the Council of the EU. This is not the first time that pro-Kremlin outlets have compared the EU to a new Nazi reich. The myth of a Nazi Europe has been widely used by Putin and pro-Kremlin outlets since Russia attacked Ukraine and illegally annexed its peninsula of Crimea in 2014.
