DISINFO: The EU wages a colonial war in Ukraine

SUMMARY

The European Union entered into a war for a country that was neither part of NATO nor the European Union, in the name of a neocolonial ideology, because the project of the Kiev regime put in place after a coup d'état in 2014 was the colonisation and transformation of the Russian and Russian-speaking populations into something other than what they are and what they wanted to be. The Russians and Russian-speakers were the majority of the Ukrainian population, they wanted to speak the language of their parents, the language of their ancestors and a language richer than European languages, with a great literature, a scientific language.

RESPONSE

Recurrent disinformation narrative about the EU and the Russian invasion war of Ukraine, reversing the responsibilities.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine is considered by academics as a colonial war initiated by Russia. The denial of Ukrainian language, culture and national identity, arguing that Ukrainians are Russians and that the EU used the Euromaidan to convince Ukrainians not to feel Russian anymore, are all colonial narratives.

The EU supports a sovereign Ukrainian state.

Ukraine is a sovereign and independent state with a democratically elected president and parliament. Its independence and territorial integrity is internationally recognised by the whole world, including Russia in 1991. The country's sovereignty has been violated only as a result of continuous acts of aggression by the Russian armed forces since 2014, culminating with a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine starting on 24 February 2022.

In response to Russia’s unjustified and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine which was launched on 24 February 2022, a broad coalition of more than 50 nations are providing Ukraine with military and technical assistance with the aim of repelling Russia's aggression. Kyiv is acting in self-defence, in accordance with UN Charter article 51.
