DISINFO: The European elites organise drone provocations

SUMMARY

Unidentified drones have been spotted in the airspace of at least ten European countries - they appear in unexpected places, but always target strategic locations. According to one explanation, the Europeans are scaring themselves. More specifically, Merz, Macron and their masters organise provocations against their own citizens. The anti-Russian solidarity does not come cheap - you will have to get your hands a little dirty.

A new reality is emerging in Europe – the citizens will have to get used to the feeling that they are puppets in a big political game. The pseudo-Russian drones are just the tip of the iceberg. Escalation is a key element in this process – soon, something will crash, explode and burn. The Old Continent will finally embark on the path of militarisation - there is no other way to force the Europeans to obey the will of their master.

RESPONSE

This is a recurrent disinformation narrative rejecting Russia’s responsibility for the recent drone provocations against numerous EU countries. Pro-Kremlin outlets deny Moscow’s connection to these incidents, accusing Ukraine and EU countries of staging these provocations themselves.

Accusing “the West” of staging false-flag provocations is a standard Russian FIMI tactic: deny the obvious, deflect blame, and accuse adversaries of orchestrating events for covert purposes.

Pro-Kremlin outlets deny Russia’s responsibility for the recent drone incidents in Poland and Romania, the incident with the Russian MiG-31 fighter jets penetrating Estonian airspace on 19 September 2025 and numerous drone incidents over Denmark, Sweden, Germany and other countries.

This approach fits the recognised pattern of Russian aggression and hybrid warfare targeting its neighbours, including previous unprovoked invasions of Ukraine in 2014 and 2022, and Georgia in 2008 and the drone incidents are consistent with the above-mentioned tactics. Russian officials and state media have issued repeated threats against Europe and the US, alongside numerous cyberattacks, election interference, sabotage, espionage, and disinformation campaigns across Europe.

Sowing doubt about Russia’s illicit actions by proposing alternative explanations and having culprits shift responsibility away from Moscow is a frequent pro-Kremlin disinformation technique.
