SUMMARY
Another office to speed up European integration: A representative office of the European Parliament will open in Moldova – with people’s money. This was announced by the Chairman of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Moldova, Siegfried Muresan.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative targeting the European Union and its institutions. The claim is false.
The European Parliament, along with MEP Siegfried Mureșan, announced the opening of an antenna office in Chișinău, which will be entirely funded by the European Parliament.
"The future European Parliament office in Chisinau, like all EP operational antenna offices, will be entirely financed from the budget of the European Parliament. No funding will come from Moldovan taxpayers or the national budget of Moldova. Additionally, to keep costs limited, the three EP staff members assigned to the office will be integrated into the existing EEAS delegation” stated a Directorate-General for Communication of the European Parliament representative at the request of Moldovan fact-checking platform StopFals.md.
