DISINFO: The European Union begins to self-destruct with its "vaccination passport"
SUMMARY
The Schengen will not return to its previous state anymore. The era of freedom of movement in Europe and elsewhere is over.
The European Union intends to introduce a system of vaccination passports, which will allow vaccinated citizen holders the freedom to travel between countries. But in practice, these passports are likely to have the opposite effect [as the vaccination process is facing a slow roll over and hesitancy].
And it seems, it is unlikely that the epidemic will end this year or next year, which means that restrictions on movement will remain, and it is unlikely that "vaccination passports" will be effective, but rather will turn into a destabilizing factor and the EU may disintegrate.
Restrictions on movement will remain until the collapse of the European Union for economic reasons.
RESPONSE
A recurring pro-Kremlin narrative trying to exploit the coronavirus /vaccination topic to push disinformation ideas about the EU's alleged imminent collapse.
While there is no evidence to support the claim that the EU is 'falling apart', the European Commission's proposal for a vaccine passport - officially called the Digital Green Pass - is received in different ways; just as many other proposals which are then discussed with the EU Member States governments.
In context, the European Commission plans in March 2021 to present concrete proposals for a “digital green pass” for EU citizens, which will specify if someone has been vaccinated, and if not, carry details of their test results, that would allow people who have been vaccinated to travel and move more freely, according to Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The aim is to gradually enable citizens to move safely in the European Union or abroad - for work or tourism and generally save travellers the hassle of going through coronavirus tests or observing a 14 days hotel quarantine when going abroad and gain unrestricted access restaurants, tourist attractions, cultural events etc.
It is worth noting that while some border restriction has been implemented by some European countries, no changes have been made to the original status of the free movement inside the Schengen area.
