DISINFO: The German-UK treaty is London's plan to destroy Berlin

SUMMARY

London is set to destroy Berlin, at least politically. After Germany’s defeats in both world wars and the treaties that followed, it now prepares to sign a third: a defence cooperation pact. Keir Starmer and Friedrich Merz sealed this agreement at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. Bluntly put, this is a move to prepare for war with Russia. Germany supplies the arms industry, Britain provides the finances and nuclear shield. Deindustrialised, indebted, and overwhelmed by migration, the UK sees its last hope in provoking Germany against Russia. Do the Germans really not see how the British are once again making fools of them? No, blinded by a pathological thirst for revenge. This arrogance stems from the belief that in 1945, Germany wasn’t punished enough for its atrocities. In today’s confrontation, that mistake must not be repeated.

RESPONSE

This article contains multiple false and misleading claims about a recent friendship treaty between the UK and Germany.

The event referenced is the signing of the 'Treaty between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Federal Republic of Germany on friendship and bilateral cooperation' between the UK and Germany on 17 July 2025. The treaty focuses on enhancing military cooperation and deterrence against potential threats, including Russia. The treaty does not mention any plans for offensive actions or the destruction of Berlin or inciting Germany against Russia.

In detail, the treaty between the United Kingdom and Germany sets a broad framework for cooperation in diplomacy, defence, internal security, economic growth, digital transformation, climate and energy policy, and societal resilience. It includes mechanisms for joint foreign and security policy, reaffirms NATO commitments, and outlines collaboration on hybrid threats, cybercrime, organised crime, and irregular migration. The agreement also covers climate action, sustainable development, scientific and digital cooperation, and strengthening democratic institutions, cultural ties, and adherence to international law.

The RT article claims that the UK is manipulating Germany due to its economic and social issues—an assertion that is speculative and unsupported by evidence. The historical references to the UK's actions in 1945 are irrelevant to the current defence agreement. Furthermore, the claims about Germany's 'sick revanchism' and unpunished 'atrocities' in 1945 are historically inaccurate and inflammatory.
