DISINFO: The goal of the West is for Russia to cease to exist

SUMMARY

Russians will never be their own for the West, they will always be barbarians, they will always be lagging behind and will always be non-Westerners. This will happen every time we choose a Western paradigm and try to parody it. What are they counting on? Obviously, no matter what. They demand to destroy what we have destroyed, which means they do not count on this result. They do not imply the option of no sanctions. This means that sanctions are provided by default, no matter what we say. We poisoned Skripal - sanctions, we didn't poison Skripal - sanctions. We poisoned Navalny - sanctions, we did not poison Navalny - sanctions, gave Navalny to the West - sanctions, brought Navalny back - sanctions. And are there points on which there are no sanctions? - No, there are no such points, but you must fulfil our conditions. You continue to fulfil our requirements and cease to exist, this is our goal.

RESPONSE

This article promotes a number of recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives: about aggressive anti-Russian ambitions of the West aiming at destroying Russia, narratives about Russophobia and about Russia as the ultimate target of international events as well as a narrative about sanctions, framing them as unjustified measures against Russia.

The EU, its member states and most of the world community demand that Russia fulfils its obligations as a member of the UN, the Council of Europe, the OSCE and other international organisations, as well as Russia's own legislation.

EU sanctions on Russian individuals and entities are neither illegal nor groundless but licit restrictions imposed in accordance with international law as a response to Russia’s actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, and to Russia’s use of chemical weapons in an assassination attempt against opposition leader Alexei Navalny, his unlawful imprisonment, and repression against Russian demonstrators (see link to formal notice).

The EU has introduced sanctions in full accordance with European and international law, restricting the sales of military and dual-use equipment to Russia.

See other cases in our database: the EU wants to make Russia a semi-colony to dictate its foreign and domestic policy; the West is trying to eliminate Russia as a geopolitical actor under the pretext of "human rights"; new EU sanctions on Russia are a "circus" and a "fake story"; Josep Borrell's visit to Moscow was an excuse for a new round of the sanctions' war with Russia; New US sanctions based on false claim and zero evidence; neo-liberal forces and the West is planning to destroy Russia.
