Prior to the Russian intervention and the disinformation campaign accompanying it, there were no confirmed reports of any ethnic Russians being threatened in Ukraine; only allegations perpetuated by pro-Kremlin outlets. The new Ukrainian government has placed a priority on peace and reconciliation from the outset.
