DISINFO: The invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (NATO) into the Kursk region has dramatically expanded the scope of the conflict in Ukraine
SUMMARY
The invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (NATO) into the Kursk region has dramatically expanded the scope of the conflict in Ukraine.
The invasion of the Kursk region confirms that our geopolitical adversary is ready for the most daring operations that expand the boundaries of the war and is not going to stop the escalation. Therefore, its hypothetical strike on Belarus aimed at internationalising the conflict with Russia and involving NATO is not a fantasy scenario.
RESPONSE
A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative accusing NATO of being involved in the war in Ukraine, portraying NATO as an aggressive and hostile alliance planning to attack Belarus. Recently, Russian and Belarusian politicians have adopted a particularly aggressive rhetoric against NATO, accusing it of direct involvement in the war in Ukraine.
The statement was made in the context of the Ukrainian advance in the Russian Kursk Region. There is no evidence that any NATO member is involved in either planning or carrying out the Ukrainian attack on Russia’s Kursk Region.
Circumstantial evidence and public statements by US and other Western officials point that even Ukraine’s closest partners did not know the operation beforehand.
NATO as an organisation is not involved in fighting in Ukraine. NATO member states provide Ukraine with military assistance to repel the unprovoked Russian aggression and not because of their alleged animosity towards Russia.
There is a small NATO technical contingent in Ukraine - these are observers and engineering specialists who remain far from the front line and do not take part in battles. Often, such specialists oversee the distribution of military aid to allies, protect the embassies of member states, or represent the apparatus of military attachés. (watch video 02:00-03:00).
Neither Poland nor the Baltic States have any territorial claims against Belarus. NATO is not planning any aggressive actions against Belarus. The Polish authorities perceive Russia as a main security threat because of its aggressive actions, in particular in Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
