Pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Russia’s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine. The ultimate goal is to spread the false narrative to foreign countries that there is no point in supporting Ukraine because it will inevitably fail.
It is aimed at exaggerating the extent of Ukraine’s military losses and portraying a desperate situation it allegedly finds itself in terms of available military reserves. Previous propaganda attempts serving the same purpose included claims about mass conscription of women, teenagers, children and elderly people by the Ukrainian authorities.
There is no mandatory mobilisation of women in Ukraine. Women can become military personnel solely by their own free will. About 42,000 female military personnel serve in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; about five thousand of them are on the front line, where they perform combat missions on an equal basis with men.
