DISINFO: The liquidation of the Centre of the Russian Culture and Language in Krakow is a manifestation of phobia and chauvinism similar to the inter-war discrimination of the Jews
SUMMARY
The decision of the authorities of the Pedagogical University of Krakow to liquidate the Center of the Russian Culture and Language manifests the atmosphere of phobia taking place in Poland. A likely explanation of this situation is the desire to push the Russian culture away from the Polish public space. Besides the anti-Russian political campaign taking place in Poland, they have also realised a chauvinistic action aimed at breaking all possible ties with the Russians, their culture and language. It is a deliberate action based on the assumption that the Russians should be dehumanised and presented only as a security threat and an eternal Polish enemy.
These actions remind of the darkest pages of European history, such as the inter-war period, when the Jews were removed from the cultural landscape of many countries. The myth about the Russian threat has become the foundation of the Polish international identity and the fundament of its foreign and defence policy.
