DISINFO: The militarisation of Poland is not justified
SUMMARY
The militarisation of Poland is a direct road to suicide. There is no point in militarising Poland, and its participation in the fights in the zone of Special military operation will be a suicide. The militarisation of Poland has no sense – if it is necessary for defence, Russia will not attack this country as this action will not provide Moscow with anything. However, if Poland realises militarisation in order to attack Belarus, Russia or join military actions in Ukraine, this step will be a direct road to suicide.
RESPONSE
Poland is repeatedly presented by pro-Kremlin disinformation as an aggressive anti-Russian NATO “outpost”, which allegedly poses a security threat to Russia, in line with how pro-Kremlin outlets portray NATO and the collective West as aggressive towards Russia.
Poland has no hostile agenda towards Russia, and it does not plan any type of military aggression against this country.
The Polish authorities are setting up a long-term policy of strengthening Poland’s defence capacities, increasing its defence spending to a record-high 4.7% of GDP.
The ongoing modernisation of the Polish Army and purchases of advanced military equipment is the Polish response to the current security crisis taking place in Eastern Europe. The 2020 National Security Strategy of Poland states that the most serious security threat for this country is the neo-imperial policy of the authorities of the Russian Federation, pursued by means of military force (aggression against Georgia, illegal annexation of Crimea and military actions in eastern Ukraine).
Since the outbreak of the Russian aggression against Ukraine in 2014, the Polish authorities have repeatedly appealed to NATO and the USA to increase their military presence at NATO’s Eastern Flank. The American military presence in Poland protects this country from possible Russian hostilities and improves the national security of this country.
The Polish authorities perceive Russia as a security threat because of their aggressive actions, in particular in Ukraine and all over Eastern Europe.
