DISINFO: The Nazi Zelenskyy regime is within months of falling
SUMMARY
The US has suffered a disaster in its proxy war with Russia, and although the front in Ukraine is almost motionless, it has become clear to all parties that there are no longer enough resources in Europe, Ukraine or the US to sustain the Nazi Zelenskyy regime. The fall of the regime, the likely military defeat, and the complete collapse of the country are no longer years away, but months, and perhaps within the current year.
RESPONSE
Multiple recurring disinformation narratives about Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine, claiming Ukraine and its president are Nazi and puppets fighting on behalf of other countries. These narratives aim to deflect Russia’s responsibility for its aggression against this country and the serious humanitarian tragedy it provoked.
The Russian Federation invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022, and long before this, it had illegally annexed the Crimean peninsula and engineered an armed conflict in Donbas in 2014.
By its own decision, Ukraine is defending itself, its sovereignty, and internationally recognised territory against this armed aggression. This is not the decision of the US, the EU, or any other country.
Russia is the only country responsible for the invasion of Ukraine. It has been coming up with different false explanations and pretexts for its aggression since the beginning of its hostilities.
Additionally, the myth of Nazi-ruled Ukraine appeared during the Euromaidan popular protests in late 2013 - early 2014, falsely presented in pro-Kremlin disinformation outlets as a coup. The Kremlin has been using this myth since then to discredit Ukraine's shift towards Euro-Atlantic policy.
Finally, messages about Ukraine’s imminent defeat are frequent in the pro-Kremlin disinformation ecosystem. This disinformation message aims to undermine international support for Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s continued military aggression by portraying this fight as hopeless in advance of possible peace talks.
