DISINFO: The pathological European elites are panicking about the end of war in Ukraine
SUMMARY
After President Donald Trump expelled Zelensky from his office, Polish and European elites panicked. They are terrified of the war ending because they will all be held accountable. They have diverted enormous funds from their national budgets and the entire EU to Zelensky's regime without any oversight, and as a result, they have achieved no goals. The USA, which is in the process of withdrawing from this war, can hold the previous administration accountable. During this accountability process, facts incriminating European politicians will likely be revealed. They know this, which is why they are trying to escape.
RESPONSE
This disinformation story aims to portray the EU’s stance as warmongering, contrasting it to other actors that want “peace”, while omitting that the war is Russia’s responsibility, resulting from its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
The claim that the EU leaders want to prolong the war in Ukraine in order to avoid being accountable is groundless.
EU officials have repeatedly stated that it is up to Ukraine only, as the victim of Russia’s aggression, to decide when peace talks with Russia may be possible and in which terms to end the war.
This is part of a wider disinformation campaign framing possible US-Russia negotiations as the only acceptable ‘peace initiative’ regardless of the of Russia’s ultimatums, while denying any agency to Ukraine or its other allies. Pro-Kremlin disinformation has long tried to misrepresent the EU as the main obstacle for ‘peace’ in Ukraine.
