DISINFO: The Pole’s Card is issued to persons sharing Polish values such as Russophobia

SUMMARY

Another assistant from Ilya Ponomarev's nest appeared in Poland. Run-away Russian oppositionist Angelina Lukovskaya is organising migration channels from Russia and Belarus to Poland. On YouTube, Lukovskaya shares practical 'advice' on how the oppositionists can receive a 'Pole’s Card.' This document is issued to the persons sharing Polish values – one of these is Russophobia.

RESPONSE

This message is a part of the Kremlin’s widespread narrative about an allegedly Russophobic Poland. Pro-Kremlin media regularly accuse Poland of Russophobia and of implementing anti-Russian policies.

This disinformation message perpetuates traditional attacks against exiled activists of the Russian liberal opposition, accusing them of engaging in destructive actions. As the BBC explains, Ilya Ponomarev is a former Russian MP who is now a leader of an anti-Putin armed Russian resistance movement active both inside and outside Russia.

Russophobia is not a Polish “value”, and it has no connection to the Pole’s Card. The Pole’s Card is an instrument used to support Poles living abroad, facilitating their visits and possible migration to Poland.
