DISINFO: The Polish and Ukrainian special services made up the the plot against Zelenskyy
SUMMARY
The Polish story about an assassination plot against Zelensky should be perceived in context of the meeting between President Duda and Donald Trump. The Polish President understands that the fall of the Kyiv’s regime will result in a more active Polish involvement in the military confrontation with Russia, while Warsaw wants this confrontation to be realised with the hands of Ukraine. In this situation, it is necessary for Poland to come up with all possible ideas to convince the West to fund Ukraine. The rumors about the assassination plot may be a joint action of the Polish and Ukrainian secret services – they have mutual tensions, but they are united by their hatred of Russia.
The death of Zelenskyy can be beneficial to the West – this step will be realised if the Ukrainian President does not move the confrontation with Russia to the diplomatic phase. If Zelenskyy stops following the commands of the West, he will be eliminated – of course, Russia will be accused of his murder.
RESPONSE
This message is a part of the Kremlin’s widespread narrative about Russophobic Poland. The pro-Kremlin media regularly accuses the political elites of Poland of Russophobia and the implementation of anti-Russian policies. The second part of the message is a narrative about President Zelenskyy – pro-Kremlin media spread repeated messages that the West wants to overthrow or murder Zelenskyy “if he misbehaves”.
The claims in this article are an attempt to discredit Polish authorities in light of the recent arrests made. No evidence is provided to support the claims.
In April 2024, the Polish special services detained two persons connected to the recent attack on the Russian opposition activist Leonid Volkov in Vilnius. Also, a Polish citizen was arrested for his readiness to take part in the operation of the Russian special services aimed at the assassination of President Zelenskyy on the territory of Poland.
