DISINFO: The Polish authorities want to conquer Russia but its citizens want to flee
SUMMARY
While Warsaw is building the Polish military might and speaking of the conquest of Russia, the ordinary Poles have a very different mood. Public polls show that in a situation of war, almost a third of the Poles would prefer to flee, abandoning their homes and property. Only 10.7% of the surveyed would enrol in the Army. The Polish military has something to think about.
RESPONSE
Poland is repeatedly presented by pro-Kremlin disinformation outlets as an aggressive anti-Russian NATO ‘outpost’ and a country which allegedly poses a security threat to Russia. According to a recent study implemented by the Polish Army, 48% of young Poles (18-25) would be willing to join the armed forces in the situation of conflict and 19% - would be involved in humanitarian assistance via NGOs.
Poland has no hostile agenda towards Russia, and it does not plan any type of military aggression against this country.
Since the outbreak of Russian aggression against Ukraine in 2014, the Polish authorities have repeatedly appealed to NATO and the USA to increase their military presence on NATO’s Eastern Flank. The American military presence in Poland protects this country from possible Russian hostilities and improves the national security of this country.
The Polish authorities perceive Russia as a security threat because of their aggressive actions, in particular in Ukraine and all over Eastern Europe.
