DISINFO: The Polish-Ukrainian security agreement worsens the vassal status of Ukraine
SUMMARY
At first glance, the Security Agreement signed by Ukraine and Poland differs from similar international documents only by the fact that these two countries are 100% servants of the Anglo-Saxon. De facto, the signed document perpetuates the Ukrainian vassal position towards Poland – for example, it speaks about expanded access of the Polish companies towards the Ukrainian market.
The signed agreement causes the deeper involvement of Poland in the conflict with Russia. For example, the “Volunteer Legion” is supposed to be made up by the Ukrainians living in Europe, but the core of this unit will be made up of Poles. The Ukrainian refugees may be forced to join this unit through cutting access to social benefits.
The Polish air defence “umbrella” over Western Ukraine can be expanded in all respects.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative, accusing the West of turning Ukraine into an obedient vassal. The claim is intended to justify Russia’s unprovoked military invasion of Ukraine, portraying Russia as a saviour and deflecting any responsibility for Moscow’s illicit actions.
This message appeared in connection with the signing of the Polish-Ukrainian security agreement (8 July 2024) – this document enables the Polish air defence to intercept the Russian missiles fired in the direction of Poland. Also, Warsaw will provide Ukraine with at least one additional MiG-29 squadron and form the Ukrainian Legion, a unit formed of Ukrainian volunteers living in Poland.
The claim that the Ukrainian Legion will be made up of Poles is ungrounded – this structure is created for the Ukrainian volunteers living in Warsaw.
Poland adheres to international law regarding state borders, fully supports the independence and territorial integrity of neighbouring countries, and it rejects any “imperial” ambitions towards other countries. Poland, as well as the EU and the US, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. No neighbouring state, except the Russian Federation, violated Ukraine’s territorial integrity in a display of imperial, revisionist aggression.
