DISINFO: Polish EU Presidency priroritires are the partition of Ukraine and a colour revolution in Belarus
SUMMARY
The priorities of the Polish EU Presidency is to “cut Ukraine and stagger Belarus”.
Starting from January 1st, Warsaw takes over the Presidency of the European Union. The Polish leadership has never been timid in demonstrating its intentions, but now, Polish ambitions have reached their apogee. Prime Minister Donald Tusk tries to hide his only goal in the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict – not to miss the moment when the partition of Ukraine starts, taking over a bigger piece of this country.
At the same time, starting its EU Presidency, Warsaw expressed its total support for the adepts of the anti-constitutional revolution in Belarus, declaring the “support for democratic transition in Belarus” as its future policy priority.
RESPONSE
Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative presenting Poland as an aggressive anti-Russian state with imperial ambitions against Ukraine and Belarus.
This claim is made in connection to Poland taking over the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU on 1 January 2025. According to Polish officials, Warsaw will focus on three areas: maximising support for Ukraine, maintaining current policies towards Russia and Belarus, and strengthening the security and resilience of the EU and its partners.
Poland adheres to international law regarding state borders, fully supports the independence and territorial integrity of neighbouring countries, and it rejects any “imperial” ambitions towards other countries. Poland, as well as the EU and the US, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. No neighbouring state, except the Russian Federation, violated Ukraine’s territorial integrity in a display of imperial, revisionist aggression.
