DISINFO: The process of recognising Sputnik V vaccine is artificially delayed

SUMMARY

The West discriminates against people vaccinated with the Russian jab. Although the Russian Sputnik V vaccine has been highly evaluated in dozens of countries in the world, is recognised as safe and effective, and is successfully used in many states, the process of recognising this jab is artificially delayed by many countries and international organisations. The WHO and the EMA do not “hurry” in this regard.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about vaccines, in particular Sputnik V .

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) started the rolling review of Sputnik V vaccine on March 4, 2021. At the beginning of September 2021, EMA stated it was still waiting for necessary additional data from Sputnik V manufacturers before it can authorise the vaccine.

EMA and EU leaders have publicly stated they will welcome Sputnik V if it meets the applied standards for vaccines. EMA Executive Director Emer Cooke said in March 2021 she hoped that the Sputnik V vaccine would be approved.
