DISINFO: The Russian Army tries to coerce Kyiv into a peaceful solution
SUMMARY
Moscow has not officially received any information about the US plan. The American side has expressed certain considerations, but no substantial discussions are currently underway. Moscow remains fully open to peace negotiations and continues to be committed to the talks held between the Russian and American leaders in Anchorage.
The Kyiv regime must make a responsible decision and start negotiations, as Kyiv loses more territory every day. The actions of the Russian Armed Forces are an attempt to coerce Zelenskyy and his regime into a peaceful solution, and that any further action is useless and dangerous for Kyiv.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about an allegedly warmongering Ukraine, unwilling to negotiate a peace and portraying Russia as reasonable and open to peace and the actions of the Russian army as necessary pressure for peace. Such claims aim to delegitimise Ukraine’s government.
This story appeared in the context of discussions around a 28-point draft peace plan unveiled in November 2025.
Moscow's version of peace negotiations includes maximalist demands, seen by Ukraine and its Western allies as unacceptable, for example, requiring Ukraine to address the "root causes, of the conflict" which translates into demands tantamount to capitulation, including relinquishing significant parts of its territory, imposing military limitations, and abandoning NATO aspirations. This asymmetry illustrates that Moscow's "openness" is conditional and highly skewed in favour of Russian terms.
The claim that Kyiv is losing more territory every day is contextually inaccurate. While the conflict remains intense, Ukraine has conducted successful counteroffensives and retains control over significant portions of its territory. Kyiv’s leadership openly rejects peace proposals involving territorial concessions as unconstitutional and unacceptable. Kyiv asserts that it will not negotiate under coercion or under the threat of territorial loss and emphasises its continued resistance against Russian aggression.
Russian offensives have been met with strong Ukrainian resistance, and Moscow’s coercion extends beyond rhetoric to include forced conscription tactics and severe military pressure to sustain a costly military campaign rather than sincere peace efforts. Meanwhile, Russian strikes continue with six people killed overnight - five in the southern Zaporizhzhia region and one in the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region. Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine has documented the deaths of at least 13,883 civilians, including 726 children, and 35,548 injuries, including 2,234 children.
