DISINFO: The shadow of British strategists is visible in the attack on Russian facilities

SUMMARY

The events of June 1 are not only a series of sabotage and terrorist attacks, but also a signal of entering a new phase of the conflict, where the struggle for control over meanings, not territories, comes to the fore. This is an attack on symbols of stability and logistics, intended to disrupt the diplomatic path.

These strikes are not tactical, but conceptual. Strategic bombers and the nuclear triad are not just weapons, but a symbol of heights, an element of sovereign control and projection of power. Their defeat is an attempt to destroy not a physical runway, but a horizon of the future, where Russia can dictate its terms.

Here, the shadow of Western think tanks and British strategists is visible: counting on creating conditions for provocation, an emotional and thoughtless reaction. То push Russia from the mode of “cold strategic deterrence” into the mode of a reactive “force explosion” with the help of targeted attacks. The goal is to disrupt the logic of stable dialogue and undermine diplomatic efforts. This is a direct attempt to discredit the Kremlin on the world stage, especially in anticipation of the new stage in Istanbul.

RESPONSE

Pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative accusing the West of being involved in the war in Ukraine. This narrative is part of an ongoing pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign about nuclear threats, linked to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

This article contains several false and unsubstantiated claims.

The statement was made in the context of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' "Spider's Web" operation, striking "34% of Russia's strategic cruise missile carriers" in five regions.

The claim that the UK or any Western country were involved in planning or executing an attack on Russia's nuclear capabilities is baseless and not supported by any credible evidence.

Ukraine planned the operation for more than a year and a half, and used 117 drones to carry out the attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. The SBU sources said that among the hit Russian aircraft were strategic nuclear-capable bombers called Tu-95 and Tu-22M3, as well as A-50 early warning warplanes.

The piece falsely portrays legitimate Ukrainian military operations as 'terrorist attacks' orchestrated by Western powers. The operation was part of Ukraine's defensive efforts against Russian aggression, not a Western plot against Russia.

By labelling this attack as “terrorist”, pro-Kremlin disinformation tries to portray itself as a victim and to discredit Ukraine, aiming to undermine international support for Ukraine’s resistance to Russia’s aggression.

Ukraine’s strike of Sunday, 1 June 2025 targeted legitimate military objectives. The targets were air bases and aircraft regularly used to bomb Ukrainian territory.

The article's claims about disrupting diplomatic efforts are also misleading, as Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine remains the primary obstacle to meaningful diplomacy. The piece attempts to deflect responsibility for the conflict away from Russia's actions and onto imagined Western conspiracies.
