The so-called “Green Agenda”, or Sustainable Development Agenda, is a programme of action for people and the planet, whose intentions and goals were shared and endorsed in 2015 by 193 member countries of the United Nations. It aims to achieve a set of environmental, economic, social and institutional targets by 2030 that will contribute to improving global living conditions, acting across all components of society, including private enterprise. Russia, China and Iran participate in the Sustainable Development Agenda.
One of the main focuses of the Sustainable Development Agenda is the protection of the planet from degradation caused by the exploitation, consumption and production chain. The Agenda stresses the global threat of climate change and the need to ensure that future social, economic and technological advances are achieved in harmony with nature.
The issue of climate change is often described by pro-Kremlin outlets as a conspiracy theory.
According to scientists, climate change is currently the greatest threat to humanity and climate issues will constitute a serious barrier for development and progress in lower-income countries that are in fact the most impacted by climate change and the least able to deal with its consequences.
