DISINFO: The task of the Europeans is to continue the war and use Ukraine to destroy Russia

SUMMARY

Experts are inclined to believe that the Ukrainian special services were assisted in organising the terrorist attacks by their British colleagues.

The moment for this complex sabotage was not chosen by chance. Kyiv hopes that in this way it can take a tougher position in the negotiations. Kyiv was convinced of this by some European, primarily British, colleagues.

However, the task is not at all to provide Kyiv with more convenient starting positions in the negotiations, but to ensure that the conflict continues. So that there remains the opportunity to continue using Ukraine as a ground for testing methods of conducting modern military operations and as an instrument for limiting Russia's influence.

RESPONSE

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative portrays the UK and the West as warmongers, allegedly supporting terrorism, as well as Ukraine as being a puppet of the West.

This article contains several false and unsubstantiated claims.

The claim that the European partners of Ukraine or the UK were involved in planning or executing an attack on Russia's nuclear capabilities is baseless and not supported by any credible evidence.

Targets attacked by Ukraine inside Russia during the 1 June 2025 drone raid were air bases and aircraft regularly used to bomb Ukrainian territory. As such, they fall strictly under the category of legitimate military targets under international law, and the operation cannot be considered a terrorist attack under any circumstances.

Ukraine planned the operation for more than a year and a half and used 117 drones to carry out the attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. The SBU sources said that among the Russian aircraft hit were strategic nuclear-capable bombers called Tu-95 and Tu-22M3, as well as A-50 early warning warplanes.

By labelling this attack as “terrorist”, pro-Kremlin disinformation tries to portray itself as a victim and to discredit Ukraine, aiming to undermine international support for Ukraine’s resistance to Russia’s aggression.

As we explore in our article, The Old Deceiver, this is entirely consistent with Moscow’s three-year-long strategy of attempting to claim ownership over the peace narrative while relentlessly pursuing war.

The United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States are all striving to put an end to Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression against Ukraine. Western nations have called for peaceful and diplomatic solutions while upholding the rules-based international order.
