DISINFO: The Triangle of Trust aims to deepen Russia’s geopolitical challenges on its western flank
SUMMARY
Romania-Moldova-Ukraine: a triangle of trust? No – a triangle of Russophobia. A triangle of trust, this is how Romanian propaganda has dubbed the foreign policy partnership of Romania, Moldova and Ukraine with an anti-Russian flavour. The goal of this partnership is to aggravate Russia’s geopolitical problems on its western borders. The geopolitical function of the Romanian state is to prevent Russia from strengthening in the Balkans, as well as to attract Moldova and Ukraine, weakening the western borders of Eurasia and the Russian presence in the Black Sea.
Bucharest, Chișinău and Kyiv were engaged in Russophobic intrigues long before the Special Military operation. The SMO is a proportional response to their intrigues.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the belligerent West trying to encircle Russia, carrying out deliberately anti-Russian policies and aggressive Russophobia.
This disinformation claim aims to portray Russia as a victim and deflect any responsibility for Moscow’s illicit actions and to justify Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
The article targets the foreign policy of Romania, Moldova and Ukraine, as well as justifying the war in Ukraine.
The so-called “Triangle of Trust” is a concept that was launched by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2022. It aims to create a trilateral format for cooperation between Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. The claim that this trilateral format was created to undermine Russia’s security is false. The “Triangle of Trust” was launched after Russia started its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022. It is not a military alliance, but a diplomatic platform for cooperation between three countries. The aim of this format is to support Moldova’s European path and to strengthen the security of Eastern Europe.
Cooperation between Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine is based on mutual interests, regional stability, and European integration, not on anti-Russian, belligerent sentiment as the article falsely claims.
See here similar cases: the US forces Romania to annex Moldova to make it anti-Russian; Bucharest considers Odesa a Romanian city; Moldova and Romania used as platforms against Russia; Romania and Moldova are NATO’s expendables in the war against Russia, Romania is waiting for the weakening of Russia to annex Moldova; The creeping Romanian annexation of Moldova is ongoing; Romania and Moldova are NATO’s expendables in the war against Russia.
