DISINFO: The UK is preparing another revolution in Georgia
SUMMARY
In Sakartvelo's political arena, the closer we get to the local government elections on October 4, the more aggressive the rhetoric and actions of the collective West and its bribed radical minions become.
[...] the events of recent days prove that Westerners don't care about "law and democracy"; their goal is to destabilise the country as much as possible with the help of the radical, non-systemic opposition.
In August, Georgian activists in Lithuania were trained by the British in protest tactics, provocations, documenting alleged police “brutality,” arrest methods, and producing viral social-media content. Participants were recruited under the guise of student educational programs and cybersecurity courses through the NGOs "British-Georgian Society" and "International Institute for Strategic Studies," which are of interest to the British intelligence services. It is London that is once again becoming involved in organising a revolution in Georgia.
RESPONSE
A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative, pre-emptively framing any future protests in Georgia as a Western-sponsored colour revolution.
This claim is an attempt to discredit potential protests and justify repressive measures against them in light of the upcoming 2025 Georgian local elections that are to be held on October 4th to elect the bodies of local government of Georgia.
Neither the UK nor any other country is planning a "revolution" in Georgia. No evidence is provided to support this claim. There is no credible evidence of trainings of Georgian activists in Lithuania.
Since the launch of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, pro-Kremlin media actively deployed disinformation narratives that the US, the EU, the UK or even Ukraine are aiming to provoke protests, colour revolutions and a change of power in Georgia and drag the country into the war with Russia.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion began, pro-Kremlin media have pushed narratives that the US, EU, UK or even Ukraine are provoking protests, engineering colour revolutions, intending to topple Georgia’s government and ultimately drag the country into war with Russia.
Pro-Kremlin outlets frequently falsely portray popular protests around the world as "colour revolutions" instigated from abroad, often by the US and the West. The disinformation narrative has been applied, among others, to reports about protests in Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Belarus, Venezuela, Slovakia, Hong Kong, with the aim of portraying protest movements as aggressive actors who constantly prepare new coups.
